PPNA 10th Anniversary

It was amazing to be able to gather with the Pan Pacific Nurses Association board and members to celebrate our 10th Anniversary. We have been able to achieve so much over the years with contributing to consultative papers to assist in policies that affect New Zealanders but especially for our Pacific communities. Attending and presenting at various conferences have also been a highlight for our members.
It was great to hear from our President Safaato’a Fereti which was read out by Vice President Tarani Lave on the past 10 years and a shared Samoan Proverb ' O le tele o sulu e maua ai figota' translated 'through many torches, the treasures are found'.
Pauline Fuimaono Sanders, secretary, also gave an overview of the accomplishments of PPNA with the recent involvement in writing the Pacific chapter in the Wepa (2026), Cultural Safety in Aotearoa New Zealand book for the next generation of nurses!
It was a pleasure to have present with us Eseta Finau (Tongan Nurses Association), Abel Smith (Fiji Nurses Association) and Aiva Panama (Tau Nosi Niue Association) and long serving board members Richard Sihamau, Arieta Fa’apesolo Mu’aulama, Alisa Ili and treasurers Sierra Faitua and Manaogi Taviliniu-Eiao.
